Own Helm CFO from the database to the pixel: the integrations that pull data in, the metrics that make it right, and the interface founders read it on.
We're looking for a founding Full Stack Engineer to own the product from the database to the pixel.
Helm is a single TypeScript codebase: Next.js and React on the front, API routes and background jobs behind, Postgres with row-level security underneath, and a growing set of integrations (Stripe, QuickBooks, Xero, HubSpot, Gmail, Slack, Google Drive, and more) feeding it. Every metric a founder sees is computed deterministically from that data, and every page is built to make a dense financial picture readable in seconds. You'll ship across all of it.
You'll be one of our first engineering hires, working directly with the CTO and the founding team. You'll own whole product areas end to end: the integration that pulls the data in, the SQL that turns it into a metric, the job that keeps it fresh, the API that serves it, and the interface a founder reads it on. You'll be trusted to make independent technical decisions from day one.
The person who'll succeed in this role has shipped real products to real users, cares about correctness the way an accountant does and about speed the way a founder does, and gets genuine satisfaction from a data pipeline that reconciles to the cent.
What you'll do
Ship product surfaces end to end: the metrics dashboard, forecasting and scenario planning, fundraising and investor tools, the data room and investor portal, onboarding, and settings. From schema to component, one owner.
Build and maintain integrations. Helm sits on top of founders' existing systems and never replaces them. Own OAuth flows, sync jobs, idempotent upserts, token lifecycles, and the reconciliation that proves our numbers match the source.
Compute metrics that are right: MRR, burn, runway, retention, cohorts, growth decomposition. Write and test the SQL and TypeScript behind them, version the formulas, and backfill history when a definition changes.
Own the multi-tenant data layer. Every query runs under row-level security inside a tenant-scoped transaction. Extend the schema, write migrations, and add the cross-tenant tests that make silent leaks impossible.
Run the background job layer: scheduled syncs, snapshot writers, retries, dead-letter handling, and the observability that tells us when a founder's data is stale before they notice.
Build the interface with care. Helm is charts, tables, and money. Implement designs in React and TypeScript with the density, hierarchy, and responsiveness that let a founder read their business at a glance, working inside the design system rather than around it.
Keep the platform sharp: typecheck, lint, unit and integration tiers, static invariant checks in CI, dependency audits, and the production hygiene (rate limits, audit logs, error tracking) that a financial product demands.
Use AI tools as a core part of your workflow, and help shape the conventions that let the whole team move faster with them without losing rigor.

Who we're looking for
Product sense. You can reason from a founder's question to the right feature, and you push back when a request would make the product worse.
Care for the interface. You may not be a designer, but you notice spacing, loading states, and empty states, and you don't ship something that looks broken.
Security instincts. You understand multi-tenancy, least privilege, and why fail-closed is the only acceptable default for financial data.
Comfort working from ambiguity. You can take an open-ended product area, form a point of view, scope it, and ship it in slices.
A bias toward shipping. You can move quickly without lowering the bar.
Qualifications
Strong TypeScript across the stack. You're at home in React and Next.js, in server code, and in Postgres, and you can move between them in a single afternoon.
Real data engineering experience. You've built syncs against third-party APIs, dealt with pagination, rate limits, partial failures, and webhooks, and you know what idempotent means in practice.
SQL fluency. You can write the query, read the plan, and design the index. You think about correctness at the row level.
Experience with background job systems, migrations, and multi-tenant data models.
Experience shipping and operating a production web application, including testing, CI, and observability.
Fluency with AI coding tools and agents (Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor). Your judgment stays in charge of what ships.
